Indonesia Peduli Reunites for Yogyakarta and Central Java Earthquake Relief

The earthquake of Saturday, May 27, 2006, in Yogyakarta and Central Java, caused the deaths of thousands and the destruction of structures integral to the life of the community. The earthquake also caused Indonesians to come together to help those who fell victim to the disaster.

Nurani Dunia Foundation, together with a number of individuals, humanitarian NGOs, and businesses came together in the forum Indonesia Peduli to create a framework for handling the humanitarian emergency in Yogyakarta and Central Java. The meeting was held on Sunday, May 28, 2006, at the Nurani Dunia office, Jalan Proklamasi No. 37, Central Jakarta. Organizations attending included PT. Coca-Cola Indonesia, PT. Unilever Indonesia, the Uli Peduli Foundation, General Electric, GE Volunteers, PT. Nestle Indonesia, Cinta Anak Bangsa Foundation, Visi Anak Bangsa Foundation, Indonesia Business Links, Pancasila University, KAGAMA, Exxon Mobil, Combiphar, Air Putih Foundation, Ericcson, Bapeda, Rotary International, the Migrant Workers Union, Indosat, KPAI, IBL, APL, IBEKA, EXPA, KKS Melati, Mitra Hospital, PAPDI (Indonesian Association of Internal Medicine Practitioners), Medical Relief, and several community leaders.

The meeting led to the establishment of Team Indonesia Peduli (Indonesia Cares), under the coordination of Dr. Imam B. Prasodjo (Nurani Dunia Director) and the following committee:
