Multifunctional Vehicle and X-ray to Support the
Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Program in Aceh (Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam)
Yayasan Nurani Dunia (YND) in partnership with PT Coca Cola
Indonesia donated a multifunctional vehicle to Aceh (NAD). The vehicle was shipped on March 27,
2006, by via an Indonesian Army-Airforce C130 Hercules transport plane.
The multifunctional vehicle consists of a Suzuki ST 150
truck fitted with specialized equpiment , such as fire extinguishing equipment
(hose, pump, water receptacle, etc.), a water purifier, a generator, and other
equipment. This variety of
equipment gives the multifunctional vehicle its name.
With its capacity to perform various functions, it is
anticipated that this vehicle will support the reconstruction and
rehabilitation process in Aceh.
The fires that occasionally break out at construction sites can quickly
be extinguished. The vehicle can
also be used to provide safe drinking water to displaced persons, and furnish
an emergency power supply.
In addition to the multifunctional vehicle, General Electric
(GE), in partnership with Yayasan Nurani Dunia (YND), also sent two ST 20 X-ray
machines to Aceh. The first X-ray
machine was shipped along with the multifunctional vehicle. The second was shipped in a Garuda
Indonesia cargo plane. Shipping costs were paid by PT. UPS Cardig
International.
The first X-ray machine will be used by the Rumah Sehat
Jeumpa Aceh (Jeumpa Aceh Wellness Center), a neighborhood clinic in Tibang
village, Syiah Kuala subdistrict of Banda Aceh. The Rumah Sehat Jeumpa Aceh is managed by the Banda Aceh
branch of PAPDI (Perhimpunan Dokter Spesialis Penyakit Dalam Indonesia)
[Association of Internal Medicine Specialists], which is the local partner of
PAPDI – Medical Relief of Jakarta.
The Rumah Sehat Jeumpa Aceh program offers health services to low-income
community members. The second
X-ray machine will be used by the Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Bhayangkara Police
Hospital in Banda Aceh.
It is hoped that the multifunctional vehicle and ST 20 X-ray
machines will contribute to a faster recovery process for the victims of the
earthquake and tsunami.
